Question by trixxxi: Can I put a shorter serpentine belt on my 96 Taurus to bypass the AC comp that has froze?

Will it work if I just get the one that is for no AC or will it be set up differently? And also the fan never stops running and drains the battery completely if I don’t disconnect the battery. Is there an easy way to fix this and why would it keep running all the time? And please no smart ass answers.

The fan is running because you have a faulty temperature sensor on the engine. It is telling the fan to run because it thinks the engine is running too hot. There is only one size belt for the car as I don’t think you could order a Taurus without A/C. You will need to get the faulty compressor fixed.
